Data Transfer to a New or Different Phone.

Data Transfer to a New or Different Phone.
Switching to a new phone is an exciting step, but transferring data can be a hassle. Below you will find three reliable methods to transfer your information neatly and safely.

Data Transfer from iPhone to iPhone

If you are switching from one iPhone to another, the most popular methods for transferring data are three:

1. Data Transfer Using iCloud Backup

How to create an iCloud backup:

  1. Connect your iPhone to Wi-Fi (preferably also to a power source).
  2. Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup.
  3. Turn on the “iPhone Backup” option (if it is not already turned on).
  4. Tap “Back Up Now” and wait for the backup to complete.

How to transfer data to a new iPhone:

  1. Turn on your new iPhone and follow the prompts until you reach the “Apps & Data” screen.
  2. Select “Restore from iCloud Backup,” and sign in with your Apple ID.
  3. Select the latest backup and keep the device connected to Wi-Fi and power until the restoration is complete.

2. Data Transfer Using iTunes or Finder

How to create a backup with iTunes or Finder:

  1. Connect your old iPhone to your computer: Finder (macOS Catalina or later) or iTunes (Windows and macOS Mojave or earlier).
  2. Open Finder / iTunes, select your iPhone, and click “Back Up Now” (it is recommended to check “Encrypt local backup” to transfer Health and Keychain data).

How to transfer the backup to a new iPhone:

  1. Disconnect the old iPhone and connect the new one to the same computer, open Finder / iTunes, and select the new device.
  2. Click “Restore Backup,” select the latest backup (if necessary, enter the password for the encrypted backup), and wait for the restoration to finish.

3. Data Transfer Using Quick Start

How to use Quick Start:

  1. Turn on your new iPhone and place it next to the old one. Make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on the old device.
  2. When the message “Set Up New iPhone” appears on the old iPhone, tap “Continue.”
  3. Scan the animation that appears on the new iPhone with the camera of the old iPhone and follow the instructions (set up Face ID / Touch ID, enter the code).
  4. When you reach “Transfer Your Data,” select “Transfer Directly from iPhone.”
  5. Keep both devices close to each other (preferably connected to power and Wi-Fi) – the duration of the transfer depends on the amount of data.
Recommendation: Before starting the transfer, ensure that backups have been successfully created, the latest iOS updates are installed on both devices, and that the devices are connected to Wi-Fi and, if possible, a power source during the transfer; this will reduce the risk of errors and speed up the process.
