How to Extend iPhone Battery Life?

Turn off Background App Refresh

In Settings, open Settings > General > Background App Refresh and turn off this feature for all apps or leave it only for Wi-Fi. It is recommended to prevent rarely used apps from refreshing in the background – this will reduce unnecessary network and processor activity as well as energy consumption.

Do not force close apps

Force closing apps via the multitasking switcher (double-clicking the Home button or swiping up from the bottom of the screen and swiping the app up) does not save battery. On the contrary – completely closing apps often consumes more resources and energy than resuming them from pause.

Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or mobile data

If you will not be using these connections for a while, turn them off to reduce background energy consumption. For longer periods, it is more convenient to turn them off via Settings rather than just the Control Center, so the connection does not automatically refresh again.

Limit location settings for apps

Allow apps to use your location only when you are using them. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services, select the app, and set it to “While Using the App” (or a similar option). This will reduce the impact of background location services on battery life.

Turn off automatic app updates

To reduce background traffic and device wake-ups, go to Settings > App Store > Automatic Downloads and turn off “App Updates”. Update apps manually when convenient (for example, when connected to a charger and Wi-Fi).

Enable Reduce Motion feature

Reduce Motion decreases interface animations and parallax effects, which reduces the load on the graphics processor and saves energy. You can find this option in Settings > Accessibility > Motion > Reduce Motion.

Shorten auto-lock time

Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock and select a shorter time, such as 30 seconds. The quicker the screen locks, the less energy is consumed when the device is not in use.

Enable automatic brightness adjustment

Automatic brightness adjusts the screen brightness according to ambient lighting and generally helps save battery in bright or changing environments. Path: Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Auto-Brightness.

Turn off physical activity tracking

If you are not using health or fitness-related features, turn off activity tracking via Settings > Privacy & Security > Motion & Fitness > Fitness Tracking to reduce sensor activity in the background.

Review app battery usage

Go to Settings > Battery and review the summaries for “Last 24 Hours” / “Last 10 Days”. Pay attention to “Background Activity” and unusually high energy-consuming rarely used apps – these are worth limiting or removing.

Is it worth considering additional batteries?

If most of the features mentioned here are essential for you and you often find yourself without a charger, consider an external battery (power bank) or a MagSafe battery case. Also, periodically check the battery health in the “Battery Health & Charging” section; if the battery capacity approaches 80% or the cycle count is high, it may be time for a replacement.
