Is it necessary to replace the entire screen if the iPhone screen glass is cracked?
When the entire screen does not need to be replaced
If your phone has the original screen and after an impact it still clearly displays the image – there are no spots, color bleed, lines, or flickering – and the touch control responds smoothly and accurately, it is not necessary to replace the entire screen.
Using specialized equipment, we can replace only the screen glass while preserving the original LCD module. This way, the authentic screen colors, brightness, touch sensitivity, and overall image quality stability are maintained. Additionally, this glass replacement often ensures a stronger and more precise fit of the screen into the phone case compared to non-original (analog) screens.
Several myths about screens with replaced glass
- After glass replacement, dust accumulates under the glass. The work is done in a vacuum environment using a laminator and optically clear (OCA) adhesives, so dust under the glass can only occur if the repair is poorly done or inappropriate equipment is used. When done properly, dust does not accumulate under the glass.
- After glass replacement, the screen responds poorly to touch. Since the original LCD module, responsible for touch sensitivity, is preserved, the device’s response to touch remains the same as before the repair. Unstable or inaccurate sensitivity is more common when using non-original full-screen replacements.
- After some time, the screen “unsticks”. The new glass is glued to the LCD module with optically clear adhesives and special equipment, so it does not unstick from the module. Only the frame can unstick if “hot” adhesives were used. The glasses we use with frames are attached with more durable “cold” adhesives (or technological adhesive tapes), making such cases extremely rare.
