Screen Recording on iPhone or iPad Device.
Add Screen Recording to the “Control Center”
Open “Settings” on your iPhone or iPad and select “Control Center”.
Find “Screen Recording” and tap the “+” to add this feature to the active controls.
How to start recording
Open the “Control Center” on your device.
Press and hold the “Screen Recording” icon. In the pop-up window, you can turn the microphone on or off – this will determine whether to record only system sounds or also your voice.
Note: all videos are automatically saved in the “Photos” app
You can also choose to stream the recording to other compatible apps, such as Messenger or Telegram.
Tips for managing notifications while recording the screen
Remember that everything displayed on the screen, including notifications, will be captured during screen recording. If you do not want them to appear in the recording, enable “Airplane Mode” or “Focus” / “Do Not Disturb” modes.
Start and stop recording
Once you have configured the necessary settings, tap the “Start Recording” button. Recording will begin after three seconds.
To stop the screen recording, tap the red recording indicator in the upper corner of the screen and select “Stop”, or open the “Control Center” and press the red “Stop Recording” button.
How to trim a screen recording
You can shorten a recording without any extra apps. Open it in the Photos app, tap “Edit” and drag the edges of the timeline to select the part you want to keep. Then tap “Done” and choose whether to save the trimmed video or keep the original and save a new copy.
What to do if screen recording does not work
- No button in Control Center. On newer iOS versions, edit Control Center directly: open it, press and hold an empty area and choose “Add a Control”.
- The feature is blocked. Check Settings › Screen Time › Content & Privacy Restrictions › Content Restrictions › Screen Recording – it must be set to Allow.
- No sound in the recording. Make sure the microphone is turned on before you start recording and that the phone is not in silent mode.
- Black screen instead of video. Some apps (such as video streaming platforms) block recording of their content for copyright reasons.
- The recording is not saved. Check that the device has enough free storage – long recordings take up a lot of space.
