Battery specifications and common faults

• Capacity: the 4 050 mAh lithium-ion battery is designed for a working day outdoors or on site. With GPS and 4G in use, battery life often reaches 12 to 14 hours, and in standby mode up to 340 hours.

• Battery type: a removable battery inserted through the back cover. This is convenient when you use the phone in damp, dusty or dirty environments.

• Most common faults

  • Reduced capacity: after 300 charging cycles the battery often starts to drain faster. With active use, this usually happens after 1 or 1.5 years. By the end of the day the phone no longer has enough power, although it used to last longer.

  • Battery swelling: due to higher internal resistance the battery starts to swell. The back cover or the screen area lifts and unevenness appears. Such a battery should not be pressed or charged. It needs replacing so that you do not damage the housing and the screen.

  • Contact corrosion: when the back cover is opened often, the battery contacts oxidise. The phone takes a long time to charge, gets stuck at 0 percent or switches off unexpectedly. In this case we check the contacts, clean them or replace the damaged parts.

  • Temperature management faults: when using GPS, games or high screen brightness, the phone heats up more. The battery loses charge faster, and the temperature sensor shows the remaining percentage incorrectly. Sometimes the phone stops charging too early or limits performance.

Screen and glass: common faults

• Screen type: 6.3-inch PLS LCD matrix, glass with Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

• Most common damage

  • Cracked glass: usually appears after a fall onto concrete, tiles or ground. If the screen itself shows an image without black spots, lines or flickering, we replace only the glass layer. We keep the original LCD module.

  • Damage to the whole screen: if coloured blotches, lines, dots or black areas appear after an impact, the whole screen with the PLS LCD matrix and glass needs replacing. An original component keeps accurate colours and normal touch sensitivity.

  • Touch layer faults: if the glass looks intact but the screen does not respond to touch or responds only in places, we check the touch layer and the LCD module. When the LCD works well, we replace only the touch layer. This lowers the cost of the repair.

Charging port, USB C, and flex cable faults:

• Common causes: moisture, dust and dirt oxidise the contacts. Sometimes the flex cable comes loose from the board or is damaged after an impact.

• Symptoms: the phone charges only when the cable is tilted at a certain angle, does not accept charge or switches incorrectly between charging and data transfer modes.

• Solution: we clean the contacts, carry out soldering or replace the flex cable. If the damage is deeper, we replace the whole USB C module.

When buttons and camera modules need replacing

• Power or volume buttons: faults occur due to dust, impacts or mechanical wear. If a latch or switch breaks, we replace the whole flex cable with the buttons.

• Camera: the protective camera glass gets scratched or cracked, and blurry spots appear in photos. After an impact, focusing is impaired or the sensor is damaged. We replace the damaged glass or the whole camera module with the lens and sensor.

Samsung Galaxy Xcover Pro screen replacement

The Samsung Galaxy Xcover Pro screen can crack during work outdoors, on construction sites or in warehouses. If there are no coloured blotches, dots, lines or flickering, we replace only the screen glass, not the whole screen. This way we keep the original PLS LCD module. Before the repair we check touch sensitivity with a special device. If the LCD module is damaged, you see black spots or dots, or the image flickers, we replace the whole screen module together with the frame. This helps maintain the strength of the housing.

Depending on the situation

• If only the outer glass is cracked, while colours and touch work properly, we replace only the glass layer.

The Samsung Galaxy Xcover Pro uses a 4 050 mAh lithium-ion battery with a nominal voltage of 3.85 V. It is a removable design, adapted for active outdoor use. With GPS navigation and 4G, the phone often lasts 12 to 14 hours in moderate-use mode. The sealed back cover protects the battery contacts from moisture and dust, but frequent opening eventually affects the condition of the contacts.

Most common battery faults and symptoms

• Loss of capacity: after 300 or 400 charging cycles the battery starts to lose charge quickly. This usually shows up after 1.5 or 2 years of active use. The charge drops from 100 percent to 20 percent within a few hours, although the phone used to last the whole day.

• Battery swelling: internal chemical reactions cause gas to build up. The cover lifts, and sometimes the position of the screen changes too. In this case the battery should be replaced as soon as possible so that it does not damage the touch layer and other components.

• Sudden shutdown: a worn battery no longer supplies a stable current, especially in the cold. The phone switches off at 30 percent remaining charge or even higher. This is a clear sign that the battery is worth replacing.

• Contact oxidation: frequent opening and closing of the cover promotes oxidation on the metal contacts. The phone charges unevenly, shows an incorrect charge level or does not turn on even though the battery is charged.
