Model specifications and common faults

• Motherboard: custom AMD SoC with an 8-core “Zen 2” processor (3.8 GHz boost) and 12 TFLOPS RDNA 2 graphics.

• Memory: 16 GB GDDR6 with a shared 320-bit memory bus, plus a 1 TB NVMe SSD with read speeds up to 2.4 GB/s.

• Power supply: an internal 315 W PSU running on a 230 V supply. Exploding capacitors or failed voltage regulators can cause sudden shutdowns or restarts.

• Cooling system: a quiet ~45 dB fan runs at 2,200–4,000 RPM alongside a large aluminum radiator. Dust accumulation over 6–12 months can cause overheating, with CPU/GPU temperatures reaching 85–90 °C, and shorten component life.

• Controller (gamepad) battery: usually AA batteries or an optional 1,400 mAh Li-ion rechargeable module. Common faults include corroded contacts, poor charging-circuit insulation and reduced capacity after ~300 charge cycles.

1. Cooling system maintenance and thermal paste replacement

• We remove dust, fluff and old thermal-paste residue from the fan and radiator.

• We apply high-quality silicone thermal paste rated at 12 W/mK to the CPU and GPU for efficient heat transfer.

• We check the fan bearing and blades, replacing bearings if the fan screeches or stops.

2. Power supply (PSU) and motherboard repair

• We replace faulty capacitors, resistors and voltage regulators on the motherboard or PSU module.

• We check fuses, grounding circuits and cables.

3. HDMI port replacement

• We replace the original type of HDMI 2.1 port. Loose or broken contacts commonly cause loss of the 4K/120 Hz signal or screen flickering.

4. Internal SSD or hard drive upgrades

• Replacement of a 1 TB NVMe SSD or upgrade to 2 TB.

• We recover data from failed drives, including those with controller faults or NAND chip errors.

5. Software updates and OS reinstallation

• We restore the Xbox Series X system (“OS recovery”), fix software errors and install the latest version.

• We use Microsoft’s specialized “USB system recovery” package.

6. Controller (Xbox Controller) repair and battery replacement

• We replace AA battery-holder contacts and install rechargeable Li-ion battery modules.

• We commonly replace lead-cobalt batteries after 300+ cycles and AA contacts damaged by moisture.

7. Liquid damage and corrosion treatment

• We clean oxidized contacts and replace damaged components.

• We apply an anti-corrosion coating to PCB surfaces to protect against future damage.
